Guest Services Associate-PT

The Guest Services Associate will work with a dedicated staff to help create a safe, welcoming, and healing environment for women and children at KentHOPE. This position is a part of a 24-hour team to provide information, referral, and support services to KentHOPE guests. Responsible for providing leadership for the guests, overseeing volunteers, and maintaining facility safety and cleanliness. KentHOPE operated a day center for women and children and a rotating overnight shelter for single, adult women.

SCHEDULE

Wednesday through Sunday 3:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
or
Friday through Monday, 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

*Help maintain a positive, pleasant, and Christian atmosphere
*Provide daily, positive interaction and guidance to guests. Assist with housing, employment, child care searches, goal setting, and connect guests to other services providers through weekly check-ins and by providing pertinent resources
*Oversee safety and cleanliness of facility on shift, including chore supervision. Perform janitorial and maintenance duties as needed.
*Uphold the guidelines of UGM Emergency Shelters to maintain a safe, healing environment - enforcing consequences, writing contracts, and holding guests accountable when necessary.
*Complete all aspects of the guest intake process: phone screen, determine eligibility, new guest orientation and instruction, and assignment of bed and storage spaces. Provide other resources as needed.
*Daily compile a thorough record of the events on your shift in the staff log, maintain updated records in Client Track, and communicate with other staff via email and Client Track.
*Monitor incoming persons, assisting and directing visitors and guests.
*Coordinate, train, and supervise volunteers in conjunction with the volunteer department. Assist in the creation of meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers serve. Interact positively and cooperatively with volunteers.
*Complete data entry, and documents, and assist with administrative tasks as assigned by your Supervisor.
*Keep donations organized and put away, and assist in the distribution of clothing and hygiene items to guests.
*Help coordinate and facilitate community meetings as needed and directed by the supervisor
*Assist with event preparation and coordination (including holidays, community events, and guest outings)
*Assist with meal preparation as needed
*Respond to emergency situations promptly, in a calm and capable manner. De-escalate guests during tense situations as needed.
*Attend and participate in all Mission, Division, and Department meetings and training, as required.
*Any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor and WCM Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

*Prior experience in related fields required.
*Work experience in a rescue mission context is highly preferred.
*Ability to stay awake during overnight hours.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and walks using stairways to climb to multiple floors within the company. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

COVID 19 PROTOCOL

Per King County, we require that everyone wear a mask while at any Mission facility (unless eating or drinking), practice social distancing, and temperature checks are required prior to entering any facility.

Per Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14.1, employees at Seattle Union Gospel Mission for the following locations: KentHope, Hope Place, and Dental must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or be approved for a medical or religious exemption prior to being allowed to work.
