Youth Program Assistant

As a Youth Program Assistant, you will work to assist in accomplishing the mission, vision, and goals of the Women and Children's Ministries Department by assisting with developing and implementing relational programs for children, youth, and their families at Hope Place. Work to prepare spiritually vibrant, academically strong, and socially skilled students ready to flourish in life in collaboration with the local church, volunteers, and partners.
SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours are subject to change during the summer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
*Manage, support, facilitate and review the work of volunteers by equipping, encouraging, and empowering them in their areas of responsibility. This includes working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and train volunteers in their areas of service. *Build and maintain relationships with children/youth for the purpose of evangelism and discipleship. *Establish and maintain good communication and relationships with Hope Place Staff, mothers, and youth residing at Hope Place. *Assist in the planning and implementation of transformational elementary programs including; 1) regular contact and outreach with youth and families, 2) ongoing discipleship, 3), weekly bible study meetings 4) educational assistance four days per week, 5) camps for school breaks, etc. *Assist in the planning and implementation of middle and high school clubs including 1) regular contact and outreach with youth and families, 2) ongoing discipleship, 3) weekly opportunities to gather, 4) monthly bible study meetings, etc. *Assist in the planning and implementation of family events for the Hope Place community. *Assist with the preparation and implementation of childcare on the nights of Hope Place graduations. *Occasional Infant/Toddler care (may include feeding and changing). *Maintain appropriate records and documentation concerning volunteers and program guests, including monthly reports to the supervisor and case notes on children and families. *Communicate effectively with supervisor and other staff regarding program plans and details. *Assist and advise the Youth Program Supervisor in developing and accomplishing goals in alignment with department goals. *Ensure that all site programs and activities operate consistently with the Mission's mission statement, corporate goals, and core values. *Supervise and ensure the safe use and stewardship of all UGM facilities, vehicles, and equipment. *Submit reports to your supervisor as directed. *Attend and participate in all Mission, Division, and Department meetings and trainings, as required. *Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
*An Associates Degree (AA) is preferred *A High School diploma is required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires frequent use of computers, keyboarding, and talking on the telephone. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, bend, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and walks using stairways to climb to multiple floors within the facility. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PRE-EMPLOYMENT

COVID 19 PROTOCOL
Per King County, we require that everyone wear a mask while at any Mission facility (unless eating or drinking), practice social distancing, and temperature checks are required prior to entering any facility.
Per Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14.1, employees at Seattle Union Gospel Mission for the following locations: KentHope, Hope Place, and Dental must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or be approved for a medical or religious exemption prior to being allowed to work.
