In Their Words

CN: What is something happening at your mission that you are most grateful for?

My Father's House: We are connecting with other service organizations (faith-based and non-faith-based) in our area, taking tours of each other's organizations, and forming partnerships. In doing so, we have unintentionally formed a network for sharing donations. For example, we were contacted by a local dairy that had 24 cases of eggs that they wanted to donate. We couldn't use them all, nor do we have a vehicle large enough to pick them up. So, we called another organization, they picked up the eggs, stopped by our facility, and we took what we could use and they took the rest. We've been able to do this with dairy donations as well.

We're now seen as a resource and an open and friendly partner amongst other service organizations in our area. We're excited about these partnerships and are looking forward to forming more.

CN: What is something you are looking forward to and/or praying for?

My Father's House: The Lord is preparing My Father's House for growth. Almost every staff member has come to me independently with confirmation that they are hearing the same thing from the Lord. So, we are updating processes and procedures, and getting our "ducks in a row" so we're ready when the time comes. I don't know exactly what he's got in mind. It's fun because we're all praying and preparing in excited anticipation of what's in store.

CN: In what ways has being a Citygate Network member been a resource to you and your team?

My Father's House: I'm so thankful for Citygate. I love how the Lord provides what we need exactly when we need it. A month after becoming the Executive Director of My Father's House I was introduced to Citygate. A month later, I attended the CEO Summit and was hooked. I've met other like-minded leaders who have generously given of their time by listening, praying, coaching, and sharing resources. The conferences, forums, networking events, and training are very educational. Having a network of other faith-focused leaders to draw from, who are working through the same issues is so encouraging. I've found a new family within Citygate and I am forever grateful!
