Milwaukee Rescue Mission Service Project

Job Location: 830 North 19th Street, Milwaukee

Those who signed up in advance to give a gift of labor to our local mission got to work on painting and landscaping tasks at the mission’s new facility. They also had the opportunity to glimpse the behind-the-scenes operations of Milwaukee Rescue Mission, savor a delicious lunch, and enjoy some great fellowship with other mission staff members from around the country. Consider being part of such a group next year when we will offer a hand to Coachella Valley Rescue Mission in Indio, California.

Missions across Canada are invited to get a head start on the convention. Dinner will be provided by our sponsor at Doc’s Smokehouse in the historic Commerce Building—about a block away.

Walk in Wisdom Workshops

Our optional early seminars are always powerful. This year we are offering four four-hour workshops covering subjects that are pertinent to every mission and life-transformation ministry operating today.

Note: If you didn’t sign up in advance but you’re here in time for these sessions, ask at the Registration/Information Center. You might still be able to get in.

The Perpetual Prayer Journey of a Godly Leader

Wisconsin Center Room 103 B

When you’re preparing to take the next major step in your ministry, you want to take that step with God. Don’t allow spiritual strongholds or a sluggish prayer life to derail the best that God has for you and your mission. Robert Loggins, AGRM’s minister-at-large and author of a number of books on holiness, discipleship, and prayer, will lead you on an interactive prayer journey to begin to shed the shackles that inhibit spiritual growth and pave the way for wise, dynamic, godly leadership.

Instructor: Robert Loggins

Biblical Diversity for Those Tired of Hearing About It

Wisconsin Center Room 101 D

The concept of diversity has become divisive in society today. But diversity, as God created it, can be a beautiful thing that will encourage your ministry to flourish when it’s properly understood and activated. Learn how to drive change at your mission that will increase engagement, unleash the potential of your team, and leave no doubt where you stand. This workshop—presented in an unthreatening, enjoyable way—will foster real understanding of diversity and empower you to confidently cross cultural and racial boundaries with clients, guests, and team members.

Instructor: Clarence Shuler

Start-Up Fundraising for New or Small Missions

Wisconsin Center Room 102 B

Are you tired of development theory or ideas that work only for ministries with large budgets and expansive teams? This fast-paced workshop will get you started with no budget and no development staff, using practical ideas, a proven action plan, and tools you can take back and put to work immediately. You’ll be better equipped to recruit and mobilize your board, sharpen your message, lead campaigns, win grants, attract major donors, and so much more!

Instructor: Wayne Richardson

Changing a City Through Purposeful Collaboration

Wisconsin Center Room 102 D

Collaboration is the key to seeing real progress in a city. The challenges we face today will overwhelm the lone rangers. But meaningful partnerships can fuel change, excite your community, and inspire a movement. This session features a case study of New York’s Rescue Alliance, a partnership of six ministries (including two AGRM-member missions) that have combined forces with 50 affiliate organizations to make a major difference in the United States’ largest city. It can happen in your city too!

Instructors: David Jones, Craig Mayes, Phil Wittenberg

There is no expectation that a formal mentoring relationship will extend beyond the convention…unless you want it to.

Wisconsin Center Ballroom C–D

These all-group gatherings are the heart and soul of our conventions. Everybody’s present! You’ll experience videos, giveaways, introductions of people from around the world, from-the-floor networking, uplifting worship music, and Scripture-based challenges from some of America’s current thought-leaders. At this general session, music will be led by MKE Worship, and you’ll hear words of wisdom from a leader of leaders, Barry Corey, president of Biola University.

Note: Be sure to look on your table for tickets to “A Night in H.O.G Heaven” that immediately follows this general session.

Music: MKE Worship

Speaker: Barry Corey

5:20 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A Night in H.O.G. Heaven

Departure Point: Buses will leave from the north side of the Wisconsin Center, starting at 5:20 p.m.

Even if you don’t ride motorcycles, you’ll find our off-site dinner to be a real trip! We’re going to the one-and-only Harley-Davidson Museum®, just a four-minute bus ride from the convention center. We’ll divide the group in half; one group will have dinner while the other group tours the museum; then we’ll switch. You’ll know what you’re doing by the color of the special ticket you picked up at the preceding general session.

Our host will be preacher, actor, and motorcycle missionary Jeff Stultz. His testimony will produce chills and thrills. Stay as long as you’d like. Returning buses stop at both the Hilton and the Fairfield. The last bus leaves for the hotels at 7:25 p.m.

Host: Jeff Stultz

8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Snacks and drinks are on your own.

Thought Leaders Faceoff

Wisconsin Center Ballroom A–B

Moderator: Sam Edwards

    1:30 p.m. – 1:50 p.m.
From Consumers to Contributors
Does it add dignity and value to charge fees for core services? Or does true compassion give without obligation?

1:50 p.m. – 2:10 p.m.
Caring for Illegal (Undocumented) Immigrants
How should missions respond to the needs of undocumented immigrants? Do we take them in and not report their presence, even if we know the government is looking for them? Or does the rule of law take precedence?

2:10 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Security on Mission Campuses
Are metal detectors and armed security guards (or staff with concealed carry weapons) something that we need these days? Or does the presence of such precautions scream overkill and destroy the concept of hospitality for which we want to be known?

NEWaukee Night Market

We’re giving you the night off—a day earlier, you’ll recognize, if you have attended AGRM convention in the past—so you can enjoy the city’s largest open-air market with food vendors, live art creation, local crafts, and a variety of music—all in a vibrant and safe setting starting one block from the Wisconsin Center. And if you’re looking for more to do, there are several outdoor concerts and really cool museums relatively close. Your hotel concierge can list the things going on in the city.

Note: If it rains, the city will cancel the Night Market. If that happens, grab dinner and then come on back to the Wisconsin Center; we’ll start the movie a half-hour earlier than scheduled.

Fundraising: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Indivisible Motion Picture Preview

Wisconsin Center Ballroom C–D

Our friends from Pure Flix are letting us get a sneak peek at another motion picture. It’s titled Indivisible, and it will be released in September. It’s based on the true story of four military individuals—including a chaplain—who are affected, along with their families, in different ways by the perils of war. If you have guests dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, this movie sheds a lot of light on the problem and shows how extraordinary compassion can heal deep wounds. While this is not considered a faith-based movie, it does focus on the importance of faith in dealing with crisis.
