CityTeam Ministries

CityTeam is a nondenominational Christian nonprofit that compassionately serves our neighbors experiencing homelessness, poverty, hunger, and addiction. CityTeam was started in San Jose, California when Lester and Pauline Meyers began serving food to the city’s homeless population. Chartered in 1957, the organization is still focused on meeting the needs of those struggling with poverty, homelessness, and addiction. Over the years, CityTeam Ministries has grown and now operates in five cities: San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland, California; Chester, Pennsylvania; and Portland, Oregon. Programs vary from city to city to provide immediate, physical, emotional, and spiritual care. We provide meals, shelter, life-transforming programs, groceries, showers, clothing, and more to men, women, and children. CityTeam uses a holistic approach that involves meals and shelter, but also education, life transformation, and career help.
