The Center for Effective Philanthropy found that 61 percent of nonprofit CEOs believe that in order to achieve their organization’s goals, it’s very or extremely important for their boards to reflect those they seek to serve, yet only 26 percent of them believe their boards are reflecting those populations very or extremely well. While 64 percent of them say it’s very or extremely important for their boards to be diverse in order to achieve their organization’s goals, only 22 percent believe that their board is. In terms of disability, only 41 percent of nonprofit CEOs say their organization is at least somewhat diverse. Sixty percent of non­ profit CEOs find that their organizations reflect the populations they seek to serve at least somewhat well when it comes to disabil­ ity, and only 11 percent believe their organizations are reflecting the populations they seek to serve well when it comes to disability.
