These providers personally support the woman and/or help her access additional support.2.Health and wellbeing: Health care is vital for pregnant and postpartum women. This cate-gory includes womens medical services such as prenatal care, support services such as doulas and lactation consultants, and general health services like dentists and family doctors. 3.Financial assistance, work, or education: The prospect of supporting another person exacer-bates existing financial strain. A woman may also see a pregnancy as a hindrance to her per-sonal goals. In fact, the Vitae Foundation has found that a woman with an unplanned preg-nancy is often worried about death of her current self (see A New Understanding of the Trauma of Abortion in the resources sidebar on page 21).
