Thrift Store Retail Manager

The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is taking applications for a Thrift Store Manager at our Mission Thrift Store. Candidates must be able to work in a Christian environment, be personable with a desire for ministry to broken and wounded lives, and be observant, work well with both our homeless guests and our community volunteers. Qualified candidates must have a personal relationship with Christ, have a desire to serve the homeless, exhibit a Christ-like attitude and must be able to serve as a witness as needed.
The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission exist to pursue the Passion of Jesus Christ to lift up the hungry, homeless, abused and addicted.

Overview:
The store manager will be responsible for operating the Mission Thrift Store, a social enterprise which supports the programs and services of the Life Recovery Program at the Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission. The ideal candidate will be highly energetic, friendly and seek to find innovative ways to manage and improve the thrift store. The right candidate will be committed to creating a professional, yet loving atmosphere and will desire to instruct and serve alongside staff and our Mission guests. The Thrift Store provides our guests with community-based job experience, hands-on application of learned skills and simultaneously serves as a funding source for the Mission’s Life Recovery Program.

Qualifications:
• Retail and supervisory experience required with retail management experience preferred.
• Familiarity with merchandise promotion and sales techniques
• Ability to manage and train staff and guests in a retail environment
• Responsible for the accurate handling of donated assets and monies involved in store operations, including daily deposits, banking and change
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete store sales and deposit records
• Ability to organize and maintain sales floor merchandise
• Ability to multitask; flexible and capable of adapting to changing priorities
• Need to be able to lift 30 lbs, bend, squat, stand for long periods of time
• Valid Driver’s License

Thrift Store operates from Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thrift Store Ministry Associates report directly to the Executive Director.

This is a full-time salary position that includes medical, dental and vision insurance.
