Program Manager for Men's Program
Organization The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve. Renewed Hope is a ministry of the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission which is a mens facility dedicated to assisting men who are poor, homeless, and or have substance abuse problems.
Summary The Program Manager is responsible for developing strong and sustainable men's ministries, including a 19-bed men's residential discipleship program and street outreach. In this role, the Program Manager will be responsible to develop and oversee a 10-month residential Life Recovery Program, Transitional Living Program, and Survival Outreach Services (SOS) that provide meals and showers on the streets in partnership with local churches. This is a full-time, exempt ministry position reporting to the SFVRM Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience and includes benefits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Responsible for developing, implementing and ministering a phased recovery-program with curriculum consistent with Biblical/RMA practices. - Develop and oversee Biblical discipleship, vocational training, The Genesis Training for addiction recovery , and case management in Mission Tracker - Ensure Case Managers and Counselors are trained and using Mission Tracker appropriately. - Ensure that Counselors are properly trained in The Genesis Process - Develop and maintain the Life Recovery Programs manual. - Assess and adjust program for maximizing favorable outcomes. - Ensure that case notes are up to date in Mission Tracker - Recruit and cultivate an effective and robust volunteer program in partnership with the volunteer coordinator and community relations coordinator at the SFVRM. - Incorporate volunteers into class schedule and for one to one mentoring. - Develop and oversee an outreach ministry that: - Serves a meaningful number of clients with Gospel compassion - Includes case management and provides a way off the streets. - Primarily run by church partners/ volunteers. - Integrates program members into outreach ministries of the mission. - Leverages thrift store operations for benefit of both program (vocational training) and community awareness. - Collaborates with operations on maintaining missions vehicles and facilities. - Provides Administration with program and outreach statistics.
Other Duties & Responsibilities - Promote/Train RMA Mission/Vision/Values. - Cultivate a culture of meeting high standards and performance with necessary systems of accountability. - Cultivate an attitude of safety following RMA safety program by ensuring compliance, modeling safe work practices, providing safety training. - Special Projects as assigned by Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities - Supervise Program Assistants and Resident Volunteers in their various assignments including weekend and evening assignments. - Provide direction, scheduling, and supervision to program staff and volunteers - Maintain a high-level of integrity, camaraderie, and professional relationship with staff. - Responsible for recruiting, development, training, and performance evaluation of direct report staff, providing feedback on strengths and development needs.
Qualifications - A solid Bible based Evangelical Christian faith, compatible with RMA’s statement of faith. - Must have a firm grasp on the Bible approach for treatment of addictive disorders. - Current Experience in Addiction Recovery and Unhoused Services - Solid experience in ministry at a leadership level - BA or Bible School/Seminary degree in related field or equivalent experience plus five years ministry, management, supervisory and non-profit experience. - Valid California drivers license and insurable under RMA.
Skills - Able to multi-task, team player, have good communication skills and strong listening skills. - Excellent people skills; with proven ability to encourage and motivate others. To love, encourage and guide clients. - Counseling based on Biblical truths and practical tools. - Knowledge and experience with resources (programs, agencies, etc.) to help the homeless and hurting. - Must be effective in working with staff within the facility. - Genuine burden to have people come to Christ and to have their needs alleviated. - Must be an initiator who can work under deadlines. - A teachable spirit and committed to team participation.
Software - PC knowledge including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. - Mission Tracker client database
Physical Demands - This position requires extended times of work in an office environment in meetings and working at a desk or computer. - Must be able to lift 60 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, and climb stairs.
Equipment - Basic office equipment, such as computers, copiers, and printers. - Cars, vans, and light trucks.
Work Environment This position will function to a large degree in an office environment. As a part of normal duties this position will also be in facilities with an at-risk population where errant behavior and disease risk may be present.
