Downtown Neighborhood Liaison

The Downtown Neighborhood Liaison as an ambassador to downtown Bellingham residents, owners, employees, and customers immediately surrounding Lighthouse Mission Ministries’ Base Camp shelter. The Liaison will initiate and maintain relationships with the downtown core in order to enhance communication, establish rapport, increase education on poverty & vulnerability while maintaining and supplementing the Lighthouse Mission Ministry (LMM) Good Neighbor Program.

Pay Range: $20.60 to $22.20

Compensation to Include: PTO (120 hours per year) & Paid-holidays (92 hours per year), Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance for employee; 403(b) contribution and match up to 5%, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Training, and Education Reimbursement. Qualifications:
Strong professional communication skills and a proactive approach to building relationships.
Knowledge of, and preferably experience with, the issues of homelessness, poverty, addiction, domestic violence and recovery.
Ability to assess situations and make independent decisions.
Skills to remain calm and calm others in emergency and or confrontational situations.
High boundary setting and self-reflection skills preferred.
A passion for serving Jesus and making the Gospel known through mercy ministry. The successful candidate will have an active church/prayer life. Agreement with the Lighthouse Mission’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.
Familiarity with common software programs including Word, Excel, Gmail, and Google Calendar.
Ability to report as regularly scheduled to work site(s).
Ability to successfully pass pre-employment criminal background screenings.


Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Intermittent high stress environment
Standing 30%; walking 30%; sitting 40%; ability to walk up and down stairs
Medium to heavy lifting, up to 30 lbs.
Possible exposure to a variety of illnesses
Both inside and outside activities regardless of weather
Ability to rapidly deal with emergency situations
