POSITION DESCRIPTION This position provides overall leadership, vision, management, direction, and guidance to the advancement and fundraising program of SBRM in concert with the President/CEO and Board of Directors. The Director of Advancement will lead donors toward a deeper understanding of the homeless needs in our community, and challenge them to prayerfully respond to those needs through the work of SBRM. This position requires ability and experience in Christian leadership, fund development, and direct work in a nonprofit. The main responsibilities include developing and implementing the annual development plan for the Mission including but not limited to direct mail campaigns, Major Donor solicitation and cultivation, grant management, annual giving, sponsorships, special events, online giving and donor database management. This position also has responsibility for developing and implementing the Mission marketing and communications plan which utilizes multiple third-party vendors and partners. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Resource Development (80%): Lead the CEO, Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff to identify, cultivate and solicit donations from all sources within our community: individuals, community groups, foundations, businesses, corporations and congregations; Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission 302 N. 13th Street Philadelphia, PA 19107 215.922.6400 www.sundaybreakfast.org Develop/enhance and implement a comprehensive annual development plan with appropriate strategies for donors and prospects in each constituent group; Develop and implement donor management strategy to ensure donors are given the appropriate amount of attention and communication each year: creating and managing stewardship activities and donor recognition programs Develop/enhance monthly reporting to accurately measure progress toward achievement of goals; Work with the President/CEO and Major Gifts Officer in creating and implementing strategies for major donor development and cultivation, leading to a more sustainable and diverse funding base; Ensure appropriate stewardship of existing and new donors at all levels of giving; Oversee special events and create opportunities for special event attendees to deepen their donor experience Research foundation and corporate prospects; and create grant requests prepared and submitted in a timely fashion as noted in the development plan; Ensure the donor database is kept current and accurate and encourage addition of new prospect names through board member contacts and other means; Represent our organization in various community settings, including speaking engagements directly related to resource development to spread the word about our mission and ministry; Supervise the volunteer program as a means of donor development and ensure that volunteers are engaged in all aspects of the mission; Assist in solicitation of building material donations and in-kind services for use by the Mission's facilities and program; Communications, Marketing, Public Relations (20%): Create and/or supervise the development of an annual communications and marketing plan which will include all Mission-related communication approaches; Create and/or supervise the production of communication and marketing materials - including, but are not limited to: brochures, billboards, invitations, programs, public service announcements, press releases and email communications; Oversee all website and social media updates and communications; NOTE: Communications and Marketing work may require management of internal resources and/or external contract resources. Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission 302 N. 13th Street Philadelphia, PA 19107 215.922.6400 www.sundaybreakfast.org QUALIFICATIONS Proven track record of success in philanthropy, fundraising, and/or corporate sales and marketing; Knowledge of the best practices in marketing and communications; Goal driven, results oriented and committed to the organization mission; Expertise to plan, organize and implement multiple tasks simultaneously, experience in public speaking, ability to work with minimal supervision, excellent verbal skills, interpersonal skills, detail oriented; Ability to function well as part of the management team; Must demonstrate a friendly, professional demeanor and maintain composure under pressure; Must be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions; Must possess ability to influence; REQUIREMENTS > Bachelor degree with 5-8 years of progressively responsible and successful experience in fundraising or equivalent required; > Must have an understanding of the mission, vision and values of Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission and be able to communicate this information to diverse groups of potential donors and volunteers; > Must have the ability to develop and implement strategies that will lead to achievement of fundraising goals; > Must have the ability to work with and secure gifts with major donors; >Strong donor database management skills required experience with use of Raiser's Edge is required (and/or its equivalent); > Tech-savvy, computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office software required; familiarity with use of Adobe Creative Suite preferred; > Adherence to our Employee Policy Manual; >A public Christian witness and a regular church attendance to maintain your relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ; >Personal qualities of maturity, humility, strong work ethic, and a roll-up-my-sleeves attitude; > Demonstrated experience with and sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values and attitudes; > Strong writing, proofreading verbal, interpersonal and group communications skills; > Exceptional administrative, organizational and time management skills; Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission 302 N. 13th Street Philadelphia, PA 19107 215.922.6400 www.sundaybreakfast.org >Possess tact, diplomacy and flexibility both in person and on the phone; > Good listening skills are required and the ability and desire to engage in well considered discussions; QUALIFICATIONS As an employee of Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission you are an important member of a Christian organization. All staff members are required from time to time to participate in Christian activities, outreach ministries, or prayer time. Because of the nature of these types of ministries it is an absolute necessity that you possess and maintain a Christian lifestyle that is above reproach. What you do on your own time may seriously affect your ability to perform these types of ministries, which are an important part of your job. Adherence to Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission's Statement of Faith and Core Values is needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is primarily performed indoors in the facilities of our Mission, yet requiring the ability to navigate hallways and multiple floors. Outside meetings and presentations may be frequently required. Some evening and weekend meetings may be required in locations and times when public transportation is unavailable. COMPENSATION Competitive salary wages will commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance may be available and negotiable. Health benefits with 100% coverage are available upon request. A robust 401K retirement is offered after one year of employment. Other benefits include: four weeks of vacation and ample personal/sick time.
