Advancement Director

The Advancement Director is a valued member of the leadership team and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of New Life Centers development efforts. The Advancement Director builds and stewards meaningful and enduring relationships with New Life Centers donors, partners, and supporters (churches, businesses, and volunteers) to advance the mission through contributions of funds, time, prayer, and effort. This is accomplished by facilitating experiences whereby current and future supporters come to understand that their involvement transforms not only the lives of those who look to New Life Center for help, but their own lives as well.

Reporting directly to and working with the executive director and Board of Directors, the Advancement Director will cultivate major donors and help execute and oversee New Life Centers fundraising, public relations, and community engagement strategies. This includes direct donor engagement, development and implementation of all fundraising programs, and management of development personnel. Additionally, the Advancement Director provides strategic oversight of annual, planned, and capital campaigns, leading outreach and grant-writing efforts, and managing donor relations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 1: Fundraising and Engagement
- Create and implement an effective fundraising plan with objectives, goals, and methods
- Build enduring relationships with major donors and manage a portfolio of gifts, including cultivating and activating new donors around giving, praying, and serving
- Develop and implement pathways that invite supporters to join the ministry in transforming lives through the love of Christ

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 2: Department Leadership
- Foster a positive and healthy work culture that aligns with New Life Center REAL Core Values
- Clearly communicate organizational initiatives, strategies, and goals to team
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship for development staff and volunteers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 3: Donor Data and Donor Relationship Management
- Oversee gift entry and receipting to ensure procedural efficiencies, sound financial policies, accountability, and organizational stewardship
- Ensure donor database integrity and effectiveness of donor management software
- Review donor reports regularly to determine giving trends and implement strategies based on donor behavior
- Oversee all donor programs for individuals, corporations, and estates
- Maintain a positive giving experience that helps donors see the impact of their gift

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 4: Marketing and Public Relations
- Oversee the development of an effective communication strategy that clearly articulates mission impact, volunteer opportunities and organizational needs
- Oversee marketing and communications efforts to ensure that New Life Center has a clear and consistent voice
- Direct digital and print creation and implementation, including but not limited to website, social media, email, brochures, newsletters, direct mail appeals and graphic design
- Represent and periodically speak on behalf of New Life Center at meetings or community gatherings

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 5: Grants
- Oversee and manage grants pipeline and process, including proposal and report preparation
- Represent the organization at community grant meetings as necessary

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION 6: Administration Functions
- Develop and maintain progress reports toward goals
- Prepare detailed reports on fundraising performance for executive director and Board of Directors
- Provide financial oversight for department including budgeting, planning, and expense tracking
- Track, evaluate, and make recommendations to improve internal development systems and processes
- Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor degree in business, marketing, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional environment

- Knowledge of and experience with fundraising, donor relations, and marketing
- Passionate about work-as-ministry, gifted storyteller, and customer service expert
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills
- Responds positively to continuous change
- Regularly seeks out personal and team-oriented development and growth opportunities
- Track record of ability to motivate and coach individuals while building a strong and impactful team
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and personal integrity
- Experience with cloud-based software applications as well as traditional desktop applications
- Strong project management and follow-through skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules including some evenings and weekends
