Facilities Operations Manager
The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve.
The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible to provide leadership to all facilities and maintenance teams, oversight of projects, site inspections, facilities maintenance and improvements, and vendor management. The Facilities Operations Manager works closely with the COO, Operations Manager and Safety to carry out the planning, budgeting, decision making, resource development, and facility improvements needed. The Facilities Operations Manager will model a commitment to servant leadership and collaborate with RMA properties, including ministries, to develop and maintain facilities and equipment that will be used to meet the needs across the organization. This is a full-time, exempt position (not eligible for overtime) reporting to the COO, located in Oxnard, CA. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for benefits according to applicable guidelines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
In collaboration with RMA Operations Manager and Operations Coordinator, manage schedule and completion/deliverables for all maintenance, repairs, inspections.
Coordinate logistics; manage vendors, procure materials, and equipment as required.
Track maintenance schedules, special projects and associated costs to achieve completion of tasks/projects on schedule and within budget.
Coordinate with RMA Operations on any permits and licenses required for construction/maintenance projects.
Provide leadership, training and best practices to maintenance team members.
Supervise planned and work order generated facilities maintenance activities.
Review, prioritize, and direct work order help desk and planned maintenance activities.
Assure all plant and equipment assets are maintained to assure reliability.
Work with Directors to ensure facilities needs are well defined and understood.
Work in partnership with Operations Manager to manage and maintain department and project tools, equipment and resources.
Provide KPIs to COO for monthly reports outlining plans, objectives and results.
Assist with departmental special projects related to operational efficiency, property upgrdes and acquisitons.
Keep COO apprised of important projects/tasks and milestones.
Maintain positive communication and relationships with internal customers.
Be an advocate and expert in facilities operations. Provide consulting to others.
Qualifications (Must Haveâ€™s)
A solid Bible based Christian faith, compatible with RMAâ€™s statement of faith and an active member of an evangelical church.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid Driversâ€™ license and insurance under RMA.
Vocational education, training, or experience in one or more facilities maintenance or construction disciplines (i.e. plumbing, electrical, etc.).
Teachable spirit and be committed to team participation.
Results oriented, self motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to motivate staff, clients, and volunteers.
Increasing responsibility and experience in the following areas of Facilities Maintenance: general building repairs, maintenance of building life-safety and security systems, preferred experience/knowledge in systems such as heating, A/C, electrical, plumbing and lighting. Construction materials and methods, project estimates.
Excellent communication skills and follow-through with clients/internal customers.
Facilities Management and/or Project management systems desired.
PC knowledge including Microsoft Office, Outlook, cloud-based applications.
Basic knowledge and experience with power tools and understanding of machinery.
Cars and light trucks.
Forklift experience desired.
This position requires extended times of work in an office environment in meetings and working at a desk and computer. In addition, the hands-on nature of the position at times may lend itself to moving boxes of food, clothing, and set-up/tear down of special events, such as tables, chairs, etc. Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
This position will function to a large degree in an office environment, but will include on-premise work, supporting the maintenance crew, at our facilities. As a part of normal duties this position will also be in facilities with an at-risk population where errant behavior and disease may be present, as well as commercial settings where medium duty equipment may be in use, such as forklifts and bailers. Appropriate safety considerations will be required to avoid illness or injury.
