Outrageous Behavior
with Ed Stetzer
So many people are totally fed up with COVID issues, political correctness, controversial legislation, and the assorted problems of everyday life. It shows up in their outlook and attitude. A simple scan of social media provides quick confirmation. You are probably seeing it in the people around you (or maybe they are seeing it in you). Unfortunately, it’s becoming the norm. This brutally honest opening session with Ed Stetzer—author of Christians in the Age of Outrage—will lay the groundwork for other discussions that we will have over the next couple of days. Count on some open and honest dialogue about the messages of peace and completion in Christ that we must share going forward, and just how we might do that.

4:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Since I Last Saw You…
This is an opportunity for attendees to briefly talk about what has transpired in their lives and ministries over the past 20 or so months, the one big thing they are working on, and what they will be praying for in the days immediately ahead. NOTE: Reports will be limited to three minutes. We’ll hear from five CEOs each time we do this.

4:35 p.m. – 4:55 p.m.

Small Group Grappling
We’ll break into several clusters to talk about what we heard in the Ed Stetzer session and how it’s affecting us and those around us.

With 39 percent of our CEOs saying they will likely be leaving within the next five years—and that doesn’t include the ones who aren’t expecting to leave but will—and less than half having a sound succession plan in place, this is something we need to talk about. Angie is one of the most knowledgeable HR specialists out there and has just helped a rescue mission through a difficult succession. Hear a firsthand account and some key insights.

He has agreed to step out of semi-retirement and be with us for a panel discussion—which will include four of our current CEOs—and talk about six of those mistakes. (You’ll have to buy the book to discover the other 19.) See how many you identify with—and how you can avoid them.

Organizational Culture and the Next Generations of Leaders
with Andrew Sears
Many nonprofits and ministries are in the process of a generational change from organizations led and funded by the Baby Boomer generation to those led by Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z. This workshop will explore how to remain true to your mission while developing an organizational culture that is more centered around the culture of younger generations--by someone involved in educating the next generation of leaders in life transformative ministries like yours.

Found Money
with Brian Walsh
Many of the people you are serving are missing out on money that is available in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). Most just don’t know or are afraid to investigate. It’s not complicated. Here’s how you can give them a boost that will move them further down the road to self-sufficiency.

4:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.   Dinner and Tour at San Diego Rescue Mission

We’re heading over to Elm Street—on the hill above Little Italy—to take a look at the wonderful work going on in San Diego’s downtown. After a tour of their two facilities in that location, plus some important introductions, we’ll have a special dinner, provided by the mission. You can go back to Shelter Island with us or go hang out for a while in Little Italy and grab an Uber back to the hotel.

What your Development Director Wishes You Knew
with Michelle Smith
Development is the engine room or operations for any mission or similar ministry. Too many times, CEOs are on the bridge barking orders to win important battles and constantly calling down to the engine room for more power. Maybe that’s one of the reasons that development directors are the most likely staff to burn out (according to our 2020 survey) and the position most posted in our Recruiting Center. One of our most creative and mission-passionate development directors will share some things that you might not hear from those on your own team. You’ll love the Q&A that will follow this session.

9:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Since I Last Saw You…
We’ll hear from another five colleagues.

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Tiny Homes are a Big Deal
with Ken Craft and Brandon Bills
We’ve been talking about this for most of the last decade. Some of us have moved beyond talk. We’ll hear from one member who is close to opening his 50th Tiny Home. Listen to how it was accomplished and what it has done/is doing in his local community. You’ll also meet a representative from the manufacturing company. This session will be dialogue rich.

10:30 a.m. – 10:40 a.m.

Beverage Break

10:40 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
