Executive Director

Responsibilities:
The Executive Director is the conduit between the organization and the Board of Directors.

The Executive Director embraces and understands the Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan that directs the organization.

The Executive Director is responsible for defining/describing top leadership positions in Administration, Development and Ministry.

Oversees implementation of the Strategic Plan.

Inspires staff to action.

Develops ways to measure operational successes/shortfalls.

Identifies ways to address/remediate shortfalls.

Celebrates successes.

Every 3-5 years the Executive Director engages the board, staff, volunteers, donors and residents in revisiting the Vision and Mission and updating the Strategic Plan that directs the organization.

Good understanding of and competencies to address identified gap areas:
Works with program directors to ensure program success and to broaden UGM partnership opportunities.

Ensures a robust volunteer program from screening to onboarding and training, with proper oversight, evaluation and appreciation/recognition.

Ensures that HR functions are being accomplished including clear position descriptions, annual performance reviews, regular training and growth development opportunities, with competitive compensation.

A key initiative is to improve the cross-cultural Reach of Union Gospel Mission and to broaden the reach of our LifeChange Program.

Ensure that our LifeChange and AfterCare program transforms and prepares people to return to society to live abundant lives.

Determine the long-term strategic purpose of our Thrift Store.

Experience Requirements:
High level manager or executive

Strong development experience, with emphasis in Major Gifts
Good financial acumen and able to oversee budgets

Education Requirements:
Degree in Non-Profit Management, B.A. degree or strong relevant experience
