Chief Executive Officer

Definition of Position: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be hired by and report to the Board of Directors. He or she will be responsible for the operations of the Fairbanks Rescue Mission within the scope of Executive Limitations established in Board policy. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Christian leader and seasoned manager with a proven track record of personal integrity, effective communication skills, and a vision to improve the lives of the least, the last, and the lost of the Interior. The CEO will collaborate with the Board and provide servant-leadership to a staff of 20 to 30 dedicated individuals to develop and manage systems and processes that are aligned with the organization’s mission and ensure that such systems and processes are implemented and monitored for effectiveness.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Committed to minister to the spiritual as well as the physical needs of those at the Mission and be in agreement with the Fairbanks Rescue Mission Statement of Faith
• Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors
• Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
• 5 or more years of management experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong organizational skills to set priorities for several projects progressing simultaneously with minimal direction
• Make decisions involving significant discretion and judgment
• Communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals
• Experience with people with addictive behaviors, mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders
• Thorough understanding of business management principles that will keep the Mission operating despite fluctuating financial resources
• Competent in computer software used for Mission administration including word processing and spreadsheet software
• Working knowledge of financial statements and the laws /regulations that relate to non-profit management

Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Board and other stakeholders to develop and implement long-range strategic plans
• Collaborate with a variety of individuals and organizations, including churches, to leverage resources to provide a full range of support services for Mission clients
• Work with the Board to establish accountability standards and systems that track the Mission’s effectiveness and impact providing timely operational reports as required by the Board to keep fully informed of the condition of the organization
• Implement necessary business systems for the advancement of FRM objectives
• Review and approve all contracts for services, including grants and grant related agreements
• Maintain official records and documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as grant requirements
• Work with the Board and staff to ensure proper care and development of the Mission's history, reputation and image
• Oversee financial administration strategies and systems that ensure sound general accounting practices
• Implement grant-writing, grant administration, and fundraising plans, with accountability for donor cultivation
• Oversee the marketing of FRM to potential donors, service providers and the community
• In cooperation with the Board, shepherd organization staff to ensure adherence to appropriate values and ethical standards in all facets of operations
• Supervise and collaborate with organization staff to provide the highest quality of operational efficiency, demonstrating good stewardship of resources
• Recruit and supervise volunteer and paid staff
• Facilitate professional development for all staff
