V.P. of Finance and Administration/Chief Financial

The V.P. of Finance and Administration/CFO (CFO) is an exempt position of Denver Rescue Mission which must hold to the doctrine and Constitution/By-Laws of Denver Rescue Mission, must be willing to sign the Denver Rescue Mission Statement of Faith, and Ministry Principles with Appendix, and be a member or regular attendee of a local church.

As a ministry leader, the Vice President of Development serves in a position that requires maintaining the direction and standards of Denver Rescue Mission as a faith-based organization. The Vice President of Development must lead by modeling the organization’s Ministry Principles.
Position Summary
The CFO reports directly to the President/CEO of the Mission, is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Departmental Responsibilities
Financial Services: Direct all finance, treasury, accounting (including gift-in-kind accounting), investment, 401K, regulatory reporting, donation processing, internal control and all internal and external financial policies. Responsible for all material capital asset acquisition and disposal.
Risk Management: Direct and coordinate all legal engagements. Direct contract review, negotiation and approval across the Mission. Responsible for managing and maintaining all insurance requirements.
Information Systems: Direct all technology, software and telecom systems strategy and architecture, implementation, maintenance, repair and replacement. Coordinate and have responsibility for data management with Data Team. Lead cross-departmental strategic directive of Cyber Security with Cyber Security team.
Human Resources: Direct all hiring, firing, employee policies, benefits, compensation, onboarding, off boarding, and managing employee performance.
Special Strategic Projects: Lead special and strategic projects as requested by the CEO and the board.

Functional Responsibilities
Financial Management: Responsible for managing and implementing financial policies, procedures, planning, regulatory and management reporting, analysis, budget and cash management. Responsible for advising CEO and Board of Directors on financial matters, as well as creating and maintaining integrity of internal and external reporting.

o For as long as the Tax Exempt Financing debt facility shall remain active, the CFO shall perform the primary duties and responsibilities as detailed in that certain Procedures for Ongoing Compliance that is included in the current CFO file. The duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring, reporting, adherence to IRS Form 8038 and other duties specified in the aforementioned document.

Investment Management: Responsible for the investment of DRMs funds in accordance with the DRM Investment Policy, as outlined by the Board of Directors. Responsible for the Employee Retirement Plan and lead, monitor and implement the 401K Fiduciary Committee and related IPS (Investment Policy Statement).

Finance Committee: Responsible for the oversight and coordination of this strategic Board Committee. Lead and attend monthly meetings, implement strategic and tactical actions as required by the Board and by the Finance Committee and ensure the annual scorecard of activities is completed.

Risk Management: Keep current and enhance business insurance coverage, as DRM needs and environmental changes dictate. Provide timely counsel and monitoring of claims and/or potential areas of exposure. Direct contract review, negotiation and approval across the Mission and ensure contracts are stored and able to be retrieved efficiently.

Legal Liaison/Counsel: Direct all legal activities of the Mission. Act as advisor and person with General Counsel in matters relating to corporate law, policy, employment law and crisis management.

Policy and Procedures: Responsible for maintaining general and administrative, employment and financial policies for DRM. Responsible for maintaining legal, contracts and other strategic documents (Document Retention).

Human Resources: Responsible for oversight and implementation of hiring, firing, compensation, benefits, professional development and training policies.

Strategic Planning: Assist CEO in conjunction with Board and Senior Leadership Team in developing and implementing the strategic direction and vision of DRM and aligning and procuring resources to meet the goals and objectives of DRM.

Information Systems: Responsible for technology, telecom and software architecture design, selection, implementation and maintenance. Duties include maintenance of IT infrastructure, IT security and data management. Responsible for Cyber Security across the Mission and lead the cross-departmental Cyber Security Team.

Business Development: Assist CEO in the expansion of the program and the diversification of revenue base through the development and/or acquisition of commercial programmatic activities and businesses.

Special Projects: Lead a broad range of strategic projects that often include Program, Operations and Development areas.

Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative (coaching) approach on a consistent basis; develop unity and spiritual depth of team members and coach direct reports in doing the same

Qualifications
A minimum of a BS in finance or accounting; a CPA, CMA MBA preferred
Personal faith commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior lived out in following and modeling Ministry Principles and ascribing to DRM Statement of Faith.
At least ten years of experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, in an organization with a budget of at least $20 million or greater.
Effective at developing, mentoring and motivating teams, and evaluating talent
Five years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in leadership roles.
Five years of experience in IT, preferably in leadership roles
Seven years general experience in business insurance, development/marketing, contracts, legal and document management.

NOTE: A limited amount of work-related travel may be required.
