Lead Pastor/Programming Director
We have an exciting opportunity available for a ministry minded, self- motivated professional. The Evansville Rescue Mission is seeking a Lead Pastor/Programming Director to provide pastoral support to the entire ministry. The Lead Pastor/Director of Programming shall demonstrate Christ-like behavior and attitude in all job duties and responsibilities. This position shall serve as the chaplain of the Evansville Rescue Mission in accordance with the organizations theological and philosophical positions as well as act as a role model to residents and program participants.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Our ideal applicant would have a Bachelor’s Degree in theology, ministry, psychology or related field, plus 2 years’ experience as a program director and/or pastor in a faith-based or social services ministry required. Highly developed, collaborative leadership skills required. Psychological and pastoral counseling skills required. Effective staff management, training, and staff development experience required.
Job Responsibilities:
Serves as a pastor to the residents, guests, volunteers, staff, and visitors of the Evansville Rescue Mission and Youth Care Center Provides spiritual and theological counsel to the residents and guests of the ERM and YCC Responsible for the collaborative evaluation and development of the entire ministry’s, educational, addiction recovery and vocational training programs. Responsible for the oversight of individual case management and assessment of all program participants. Ensure sound spiritual components consistent with Mission policies and standards assure that the standard of excellence is represented in all ERM programs and services. Assists in maintaining the safety, security and overall Christ-like atmosphere of the ERM and YCC Regularly preaches the gospel and teaches. Attends staff meetings, LR meetings, and staff devotions. Effectively assist in managing the Men’s Residence Center operations, client activities and overall programs to meet agency mission. Assist the MRC Direct Care team and the YCC Direct Care Staff coaching, and developing our guests and residents. Oversee the MRC Work Program Meet with residents at MRC and YCC to answer questions, de-escalate situations, and settle grievances.
Assist in the administration of winter and summer Contingency Programs.
Respond to overnight phone calls from the Men’s Residence Center and/or YCC, when serving on call, providing guidance and/or support.
Ensure consistent and appropriate staffing and training for ministry support divisions.
Assist in teaching, leading Bible studies and PACES classes and classes and studies at YCC
Assist in preaching chapel services and offering Biblical Counseling.
Defuse and de-escalate difficult situations involving clients and staff, as well as assist with the safety and security of the Men’s Residence Center and YCC
Strive to maintain a professional culture that promotes teamwork and empathy for residents of the Men’s Residence Center and YCC
Any other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of the MRC Develop and implement consistent programming logic models that align with volunteer programming objectives
Establish and maintain measurable outcomes to determine program viability
